James Morrison
Sholar
Oct 14, 1943 — Jul 8, 2022
James Morrison Sholar, 78, of Wallace left this earthly life on Friday, July 8, 2022, for his eternal home to be forever with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was born on October 14, 1943, in Duplin County; the son of the late James Carroll and Ida Glenn Raynor Sholar.
Morrison was a charter member of Lighthouse Family Worship Center. He was a loyal employee with J.P. Stevens (Stevco Knit) for 35 years and later with Guildford East for 10 years.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and wife of 58 years, Linda Pope Sholar; children, Connie Jo Blanton and husband, Doug of Jamestown, NC, Sheri Jenkins and husband, Marion of Wallace and Matthew Sholar of Greenville; grandchildren, Kayla Hodges, Ethan Blanton, and Bailey Jenkins; great grandson, Liem Hodges; sister, Edith English and husband, Russell of Wallace; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Morrison dearly.
Morrison was a simple man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was caring, humble, generous, and giving to all he knew. Being a beloved husband, father, and brother, his life was dedicated to God and taking care of his personal family and his church family. To Morrison, no one was ever a stranger. He loved blessing others in whatever way possible to meet their needs. He was also a great listener and one to lift up others when they were down. An avid outdoorsman, Morrison enjoyed hunting, fishing, walking around the farm or just sitting outside in a chair admiring God 's beautiful creation. Of course, he was always watching for a wild turkey. God was always first in Morrison's life, and they had a unique and special relationship. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren, who were the apples of his eyes. His life was a great example of Jesus to everyone around him and he was known as "friend" to so many. Morrison was, without a doubt, a true gift from God. All who knew him were truly blessed.
