James Durwood
Page, Sr.
August 15, 1935 – February 14, 2024
Durwood Page, 88 of Hampstead, NC died Wednesday February 14, 2024 after a long illness.
He was born in Wake County August 15, 1935.
He graduated from Long Creek Grady Highschool, where he met his soon to be wife, Jackie. The two had a loving marriage for 67 years.
Durwood was an avid UNC basketball fan and loved watching NASCAR. Friends used to note the "Pages tv was always on anything with a ball or a tire". He played on the Wilmington Senior Men's Softball team until he was 79 years old. He coached the young men's basketball and softball teams at Cape Fear Presbyterian Church for several years. He also assisted coaching at Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist. Durwood loved the comradery and sportsmanship in these activities. He also was very devoted to the family chihuahua, Sophie aka Durwood's shadow
He was preceded in death by his mother Clarice Woodell McGeachy and his father James Hunter Page. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline (Jackie) Page, son James D. Page Jr (Woody), brother Claude R Page (Linda) of Wilmington, sisters Sheila P. Moore of Whiteville, and Jill P. Long (Rocky) of Millers Creek, NC.
Per his request no services will be held and internment will be at the Wesleyan Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.
