James "Jimmy" Harold Peedin III, age 52, of Rocky Point died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at his home.

He was born December 20, 1958 in Pender County and was the son of Mary J. Peedin of Burgaw and the late Dr. James Harold Peedin, Jr. Also remembered is his wife, Kay Burke Peedin who preceded Jimmy in death in 2008.

In addition to his mother, Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Taylor Ruth Peedin; sons, JonMichael Peedin (Lauren A.) and James "Jay" H. Peedin IV; brothers, Bill Peedin (Minzet), Jeff Peedin (Pam) and David Peedin (Sherry); nephews, Jeffrey Peedin (Heather), Bobby Peedin, Pete Peedin, and Zack Peedin; nieces, Samantha Peedin, Sarah Peedin and Crystal Turner; great niece, Robin Turner and many friends.

Jimmy was employed with General Electric Company and was a member of Castle Hayne Baptist Church.

Jimmy was a devoted husband, dad, son, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his Lord and his family with all his heart. Jimmy had a broad spectrum of friends from all walks of life. He loved the outdoors - playing golf, fishing and hunting with his buddies at Lanes Ferry Hunting Club. Jimmy's faith in God, warm smile, laughter, and caring nature are cherished and will always be remembered.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Billy Flower and The Rev. Brock Tharpe officiating. Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home of Mary Peedin in Burgaw.
