Obituary

James Alfred Piner, 73, of Willard left this life for his eternal rest on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at his home while surrounded by his family.

He was born November 21, 1939 in Pender County and was the son of the late Carl and Etta Piner. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Raymond Piner, George Piner and Cliff Piner and sisters, Dorothy Strickland, Maebelle Packer and Virginia Bradshaw.

Alfred served his community as owner and operator of Piner's Plumbing & Well Drilling Service for 28 years and was a member of First Assembly of God Church of Wallace.

Surviving is his devoted wife of 56 years, Judith Elaine Lockamy Piner of the home; his loving daughters, Judy Collier and husband, Ray of Wallace and Phyllis Batten and husband, Glenn of Willard; grandchildren, Brantley Tokoly, Kayla Dixon and Amberly Tokoly; brothers, Herman Piner and wife, Delphine of Wallace and Paul Piner and wife, Shirley of Wilmington; special nieces and friends, Kim Maready, Sandra Mills, Carrie Brown, Nolan Hall, and Adam Quinn; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Alfred was a caring husband and loving father, "Papa", brother and uncle who loved his family dearly. He was a hard worker and great provider for his family. Alfred never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at Shawn's Restaurant and Pizza Corner. Being a strong, courageous and yet gentle man, he brought out the best in all who were near and dear to him. Although Alfred will be greatly be missed, his family and friends are comforted in knowing he has moved on from this life to a much fuller one that he now has in Heaven with Jesus his Lord.

Funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at First Assembly of God Church with the Reverend Leo Bracken officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Saturday at First Assembly of God Church and other times at Alfred and Elaine's home.
