Jana Sue McKinney, age 67, passed away peacefully on Monday on July 6, 2020 surrounded with love by her family.

The adopted daughter of Mary L. and Sgt. Wallace L. Locke Sr., both deceased, Jana grew up with her late brother Wally, Jr. in Wood River, IL, and attended Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, IL, where she graduated in 1972. On April 5, 1985 she married Michael D. McKinney Sr. in Wood River, IL. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2018.

Jana surrounded herself with her loved ones and enjoyed life up until the end.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael D. McKinney (Idalia)  and Samuel K. McKinney (Ashley) and her three grandchildren, Zoe and Lianna McKinney and Fabian McKinney.

Jana spent the latter years of her life getting to know her newfound biological family, adding another mother, Joyce Milam and six brothers, Johnny Milam Jr. (Brenda), Jim Milam (Susie), Jay Milam (Teresa), Joel Milam (Terry), Jerry Milam, and Jason Milam (Crystal); many nieces, and nephews, and extended family into her family circle.

Jana was an avid collector, collecting coins, stamps, and at one point Pokémon cards. She used to trade cards with the neighborhood kids, earning her the nickname "the Pokémon lady."

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2020 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton, IL.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington, NC where she will be laid to rest beside her biological father. Mrs. Judy Jeremias will conduct the service.
