Janet Lynn Norris Vann

Janet Lynn Vann, 67, of Magnolia passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington. 

She was born on October 20, 1958 in Pender County, NC; the daughter of Joyce Rooks Brown Rackley of Raleigh and the late Virgil Norris. 

Surviving in addition to her mother and step-father Ralph Rackley, are her daughters Tracie Hanchey and husband Eddie of Wallace, Monica Hughes of Wallace and Beckie Blanton and husband Bradley of Magnolia; her grandchildren Alyessa Hughes and Kora Hanchey; special cousins Shelia DeBose, Kathy McMillan, Sue Keene and Peggy Jones; her precious canine companion "Pepper" whom she adored and numerous extended family and friends that loved Janet dearly. 

Janet was a loving daughter and caring mother and grandmother who loved her family with all her heart.  She was a simple woman who enjoyed simple things such as fishing, sitting outside in her swing, and spending time with her family.  She was a private person who kept to herself and didn't care to be around large crowds. Janet will surely be missed but treasured memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. 

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
