Janet Pylant, age 67, of Atkinson left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from Vidant Duplin Hospital.

She was born on April 18, 1948 in New Orleans, LA and was the daughter of Robert Lee and Edith E. Pylant. She was also predeceased by her sister, Norma Marshall.

Surviving is her children, DeLane Ward and husband, Carl of Wallace, Sudie Henry and husband, Geovanny of Wallace, Robert Henry, Jr. of Willard and Robert L. Barrow and wife, Karen of New Bern; grandchildren, Alaina Andre (Jeff), J.C. Ward, Delaney Benitez (Bairon), Robert Martinez, Luis Martinez and Justin Henry; great granddaughters, Eva Benitez and Skylar Lea Henry; sisters, Joyce Barrantine of Arizona, Muriel Hubbard of Oregon, Ida Barnhill of Atkinson, NC, Barbara Necessary of West Virginia; brother, Buddy Pylant of Atkinson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet was a loving mother and caring grandmother and sister. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. She was a great cook and caregiver who gave more care to others than she did herself. With a big heart, Janet was selfless and loved helping others. She a lover of all kinds of animals especially her pet squirrel "Marcell' that she carried with her most everywhere she went. Janet will surely be missed but treasure memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Janet's life will be held at a later date.
