Janice Anderson Byerly, age 80, of Wilmington passed from her earthly life Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

She was born December 22, 1942 in Pender County, the daughter of Coy Willard Anderson and Velma Rooks Anderson. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Duane Byerly and brother, Julian Anderson.

Janice is survived by her son, Harold David Byerly; grandchildren, Bria Byerly and Anderson Byerly; sister, Elaine Wrenn and her husband, Wayne; sister-in-law, Donna Anderson; many extended family members and friends.

Janice grew up attending Riley's Creek Baptist where she has remained a lifelong member. She was a graduate of Pfeiffer College now Pfeiffer University. Janice and her Marine Corps husband, Harold, were transferred to California where Janice worked as a social worker. Harold died at the young age of 39 while Janice was pregnant with their son, Harold. Being a single mom Janice moved back to North Carolina to be near family. She worked for Richard Brickhouse, US Postal Service, and then for over 20 years for TKF Trucking.

Janice was a lady of many talents-avid crafter and artist in her own right, auctioneer and lover of antiques. She was selfless and would do anything for anyone without even being asked. Janice has lived a full and interesting life and at the same time being a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Riley's Creek Baptist Church with memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Rev. Art Sauer will conduct the service.

Inurnment will follow in Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery.
