Jasper "Jack" Glenn Ezzell, 75, of Burgaw passed gently from his earthly life on Friday, December 21, at his home.
He was born July 30, 1943 in Duplin County, the son of the late Curtis Hooks Ezzell and Lydia Gertrude Hargrove Ezzell. Also, preceding Jack in death are his brothers, Joe, Zara and Huey Ezzell and sister, Elizabeth Dail.
Jack is survived by his wife of 24 years, Donna C. Ezzell; daughters, Barbara Ezzell Henderson (Scott) and Elaine Ezzell Gibson (Barry); step-daughters, Donna Ann Batson and Dorothy Lea Williamson (Stuart); nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one great granddaughter due to arrive in the Spring; siblings, Raymond "Bud" Ezzell, Linwood Ezzell (Joyce), Travis Ezzell, Hilda Rivenbark (Jerry), Linda Brogden, and Robert Ezzell (Doris); and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Jack was raised in the catholic faith and kept his belief in the Lord all of his life. He proudly served his country honorably in the US Navy, serving in Vietnam as a Petty Officer 2nd Class.
Jack was a true gentleman; quiet in manner, steadfast in loyalty and loving to his family. Many will remember Jack's frequent walks to Burgaw Post Office and the Scotchman Store, where he sat at the picnic table chatting with friends. His gentle smile, pristine white beard, and his interest in the world around him will be remembered.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 506 E. Main Street, Wallace NC. Deacon Michael Vandiver will conduct the service. Burial will be in Devotional Gardens, 1260 NC Hwy 24 and 50 E, Warsaw, NC.
Proud of having donated over 100 pints of blood through the American Red Cross Jack would be pleased for his family to direct memorial contributions to the American Red Cross of the Cape Fear Area, 1102 S. 16th. Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.
