Obituary

Jean Carter Page, 91, of Wilmington, NC, transitioned from this earthly life to her eternal rest on Friday, May 31, 2024. Born on December 10, 1932, in Duplin County, she was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Jackson and Leona Jones Carter. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert Glenwood Page.

Surviving to celebrate her legacy are her children: Paul Gregory Page and his wife Susan of Smithfield, VA; Gwendolyn Page Hawley of Rocky Point; and Glen Page of Wilmington. Her grandchildren—Evin Greensfelder, Zachary, and Carter Page—and great-grandchildren—Margot, Tillman, and Carolyn Greensfelder—along with numerous extended family members and friends, will forever hold her memory dear.

Jean's life's work was devoted to her family, pouring love and care into her children and her husband. In her youth, Jean harbored aspirations of becoming a nurse, a dream she set aside upon meeting her one true love. Following their marriage, Jean embraced the role of an Army wife, supporting her husband's career over three decades of military service. This journey took their family across continents, from England to Germany and Italy, immersing them in the rich tapestry of European culture. Jean's fascination with Latin and Shakespeare, cultivated during her high school years, unexpectedly came to life during their travels, where she found joy in exploring historic sites and embracing the literary heritage of each country.

Jean's journey through life was marked by her vivacious spirit and dedication to those she loved. Her first foray into the professional world came after her children had grown, taking a part-time position at Belk's during the bustling Christmas season. Jean's innate affinity for people and her eye for fashion propelled her to the forefront, transforming a seasonal job into a standout career.

Above all, Jean's family was her world. Her love for them was boundless, and her presence will be profoundly missed. However, the treasured memories she created will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
