Jeanette "Jenny" Lanier Dees, 83, of Southport and formerly of Burgaw passed from her earthly life Thursday, December 23, 2021 at her home.

She was born June 24, 1938 in Kinston, the daughter of the late Lonnie Lanier and Mamie Cottle Hollowell. She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Dees, MD in 2003.

Jenny was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport where she had made many friends.

Jenny was a true Southern lady filled with grace and a giving spirit. She enjoyed all of God's beautiful world of nature. Most recently, Jenny, in memory of her husband, John T. Dees, MD, gifted generously to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. The Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Wilmington garden was officially named the John T. Dees, M.D. and Mrs. Jenny Dees Heritage Garden. It is a place of beauty and offers comfort and solace to families and visitors at the adjacent hospice care center.

A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 in Burgaw Cemetery, 200 E. Wallace Street in Burgaw. The Rev. Dr. Garrett Albertson will conduct the service.

In lieu of flowers at Jenny's request memorial gifts be given to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
