Jeffrey "Jeff" Lynn
Blake
January 6, 1955 – May 9, 2012
Jeffrey "Jeff" Lynn Blake, 57, of Burgaw passed so very peacefully from his earthly life to his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter after a monumental battle with a rare type of cancer. Jeff kept the faith all during his illness.
He was born January 6, 1955 in Wilmington, the son of Myrtle Sloop Gregory of Wallace and the late Harry Blake.
In addition to his mother, Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sallie Savage Blake; son, Jeffrey Shawn Blake of Castle Hayne; daughter, Mary-Beth Blake Bowden (Daniel) of Burgaw; grandchildren, Kylie, Landon and Elizabeth; brothers, Eugene Blake of Leland, Tommy Blake (Faye) of Wilmington, and Jimmy Blake (Connie) of Watha; several nieces and nephews; extended family; friends and most especially his church family.
He served his country honorably in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era. Jeff was a member of Penderlea Pentecostal Holiness Church. For 38 years he was employed with Invista where he enjoyed working and as an extra bonus made many friends.
Jeff loved the Lord, his family, his church family and many friends. Being outdoors in God's beautiful world fishing, hunting or playing golf with friends were all favorite activities that Jeff enjoyed. At home Jeff always had a project going, whether it be gardening or remodeling his house. His quiet faith, his bright smile and his thankfulness for all his blessings spoke clearly to all who knew Jeff. Fond memories of Jeff will forever remain in our hearts.
