Jeremy Eugene Melvin, age 34, of Wilmington died Saturday, June 2, 2012 in Wilmington. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Florence Melvin and Tony and Freda Peterson.

He was born July 8, 1977 in Wilmington. Jeremy is survived by his mother, Rita Peterson Pena of Wilmington; father, Eugene Cates Melvin and his wife, Vickie of Wilmington; sisters, Melissa Melvin Simpson and husband, Freddy of Watha and Tania Melvin of Wilmington; brother, Chris Melvin of Wilmington; two uncles; and several nieces and nephews.

As a youth Jeremy enjoyed surfing, skating, playing basketball and always having a good time. He was a quiet, gentle man who was very polite and considerate of others. Jeremy would go out of his way to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In his own unique way he loved his family. Special memories of Jeremy will always remain in our hearts.

Memorial service will be at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Greenfield Lake, shelter 1759 G in Wilmington with The Rev. J. C. Young-Thompson officiating.
