Jerry Wayne James, 75, of Rocky Point passed gently from his earthly life on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 while being lovingly cared for by his beloved family.

He was born March 1, 1947 in New Hanover County to Henry Loyd James and Veatta Mills James. In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy James; grandson, Dustyn James; and brother, Mitchell James.

Jerry is survived by his second wife of 30 years, Teresa James; Jerry and Judy's three children, Christopher James, Charles James, and Regina James; step-daughter, Heather Bleacher (James); grandchildren, Reid Harrelson, Hannah James, Sissy James, and Kailey James; step-grandchildren, Bethany Bleacher, Haley Bleacher, and Wyatt Bleacher;  and many extended family members.

Jerry served his country honorably in the US Navy, serving eight years active duty and 16 years in Naval Reserves. Jerry retired after working more than 50 years at International Paper Company. Since 2015 Jerry has been a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

He loved his family, the military and the USA. He was a man of God, living his daily life by Christian principles. Amongst the legacies Jerry leaves are the importance of God, Family and Country.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Fellowship Baptist Church with service beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Pastor Arnold Griffin will conduct the service.
