Jerry Wayne Lanier, age 52, of Kenansville left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from his residence.
He was born September 27, 1961 in Bossier City, LA to the late James Henry and Mary Edna Foster Lanier.
Jerry was employed with Walmart as a shift manager and worked at Wallace, Clinton and other area Walmart stores until his health would not allow him to work any longer.
Surviving is his best friend and devoted wife of 26 years, Cathy Howard Lanier; his loving children, Mildred Lanier and fiancé, Ronnie Teachey of Kenansville, Jerry Lanier, Jr. of Ooltewah, TN; Julia Lanier Norris and husband, Ted of Ooltewah, TN and Kimberly Lanier of Kenansville; grandchildren, Jasmine Marie Watson, Logan Jericho Watson, Sapphire Rayne Lanier and Angel Hope Norris; brothers, James David Lanier and wife, Roberta of Hampstead and John William Lanier of Magnolia; sisters, Marie Lanier Guy and husband, Ronald and Gail Lanier Drew and husband, Dale, all of Magnolia and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Jerry was a wonderful husband and caring father, grandfather and brother. He found great joy in the simplest things, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. His wife and children were the light of his life and his world revolved around them. Jerry lived his life with a spirit of patience, gratitude, wonder and love. ....... He was the happiest when he was doing simple things like spending time with his wife, playing games with his children or just making simple memories with those he loved. Being an honest and simple man, Jerry was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was caring and had a great big heart for others. Jerry will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Memorial service will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Deborah Sutton officiating.
