Jessie Rogers Johnson, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 17, 2023.

Jessie was the daughter of the late Robert and Edith Rogers. She was preceded in death by Ken, her husband of nearly 55 years. Jessie is survived by her sons Christopher Kenneth Johnson and wife Melissa, Timothy Cole Johnson and wife Audra and Jesse Cromwell Johnson and wife Cameron. Jessie is also survived by her brother Robert Rogers, her sister Jane Rogers and six grandchildren, Foster, Evan, Dylan, Ava Grace, Graylyn and Isla.

Jessie was a homemaker during the time her sons were school aged. She later worked in real estate as a licensed broker and worked in several local businesses where she made many lifelong friends.

Jessie's love for her husband and her faith in the Lord provided an incredible foundation for her family to which she was so dedicated. She was very active in and attended all her sons' sporting events and extracurricular activities. Jessie's high priority of family was deeply appreciated by her sons and grandchildren.

Jessie's favorite outing was sitting in the rocking chairs on the beachfront porches of the Hanover Seaside Club with Ken and friends. Many nights Jessie and Ken could be found watching the moon rise over the ocean. Jessie adored all of her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

The family would like to thank her caregivers Kim Phelps, Crystal, Morgan and Delphine Mitchell for their care and compassion for Jessie over the last few months. The family would also like to thank Shawn and the other compassionate nurses at Lower Cape Fear Life Care for providing in-home care for Jessie.

Visitation will be from 10:00am - 11:00am, Saturday, July 22, 2023 followed by a memorial service at 11:00am at Temple Baptist Church at 1801 Market Street, Wilmington, NC 28403. Senior Pastor Dr. Mark Gaskins will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church at www.templebaptist.us or to Lower Cape Fear Life Care at lifecare.org.
