Jimmy "Jabo" James, age 66, of Wallace left his earthy home for his eternal rest on Sunday, December 25, 2011 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Born on October 23, 1945, in Duplin County, he was the son of the late Lester and Adell Raynor James. He was also predeceased by his brother, Tommy James.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 39 years, Susan "Diane" James of the home; daughter, Donna James Alberti and husband, Thomas of West Liberty, IA; son, Jimmy Aaron "Bubba" James of Wallace; granddaughter, Krista Marie Lanier; special children, Cindy Reed, Jaime Moran and Kelli Huffman; special grandchildren, Chelsea, Cassidy and Cailey Reed, Gage and Brody Moran and Brayden Thomas Huffman; brother, Bobby "Cotton" James of Wallace; sisters, Jeanette Piner, Gerrie Futrell, Betty Rackley, all of Wallace, Caroline Rich, Mary Rivenbark and Carolyn Moore, all of Willard and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Jimmy or "Jabo" as he was affectionately called was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a simple man who was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. "Jabo" enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing and spending time in his building listen to music. He was an auto body technician at Giddeon's Body Shop for over 30 years where he enjoyed working on vehicles and making new friends. Jimmy's gentle spirit and love for his family and friends will be fondly remembered and he will be dearly missed.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend David Knowles officiating.
Entombment will follow in Rockfish Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Casketbearers will be Bobby James, Timmy James, Sam James, Paul Johnson, Darin Moore and Joey Piner.
Memorial gifts may be given to Willard Baptist Church, Benevolence Fund, 244 Church Street, Willard, NC 28478.
The family would like to thank the family of Sambo Giddeons and Giddeon's Body Shop for the love and support they have given to them over the years and during Jimmy's illness.
