Obituary

On the wings of an angel Jodi Eakins Tynch, age 35, of Watha went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 3, 2009.

She was born June 30, 1973 in Burgaw and was the daughter of Larry and Joyce R. Eakins of Watha.

In addition to her parents Jodi is survived by her husband of 10 years, Mike L. Tynch of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Jimmy Basden of Burgaw; niece, Jordan Basden; nephew, Brad Basden and many extended family and friends who also loved Jodi.

Jodi and Mike attended Scotts Hill Baptist Church which was a blessed part of their lives. Jodi and her sister, Kim, began a "Hugs For Hope Ministry" (care bags for cancer patients) and have already distributed over 75 in North Carolina. This ministry will continue in Jodi's memory.

Jodi can be described as a bit colorful and some may even say eccentric, but always joyful and caring in spirit. She was blessed with a love for the Lord that took her through an extended battle with cancer. She touched and uplifted all who knew and loved her with her faith, positive attitude, genuine smile and laughter. Jodi loved all of God's creations - flowers, animals and especially, Allie, her canine companion for the past nine years. Cherished memories of Jodi's bright and shining life will forever live in our hearts.

The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday at Shiloh Baptist Church and at other times will be at the home of Larry and Joyce Eakins.

Following the visitation the funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Shiloh Baptist Church with The Rev. Phil Ortego officiating.

Burial will follow in Herring Family Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Dave Kostyal, Kent Harrell, Dewayne Rivenbark, Darren Rivenbark, John Rivenbark, Brian Rivenbark, Bobby Rivenbark and John Whitaker.
