Joel "Pat" Larson, 60, of Burgaw passed from his earthly life to his eternal rest on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 4, 1952 in Loris, SC, and was the son of the late James Lawrence Larson, Jr. and Allene Larson Todd. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Clifford G. Todd and sister, Sandra Jean Larson.

Pat is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kay Johnson Larson; daughter, Jessica Larson; God-daughter, Madison Eichhorn; sisters, Diane Smith (Randall) and Sylvia Holleman; brother, Larry Larson; brothers-in-law, Joe Lee Johnson, Melvin Johnson, Bobby Johnson (Vickie), DeWayne Johnson, and Hoopie Rivenbark; sisters-in-law, Diane Sterling (Ken) and Tonya Batchelor (Dennis); special friends and their families, Gene and Kay Wells, Connie and Jimmy Blake and Angela and Mike Perry; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Pat was an instructor in furniture refinishing at Cape Fear Community College for 15 years.

Pat was a devoted husband and brother; proud daddy; loving pappy and loyal friend. His earthly presence; his vibrant personality and his skilled ability to fix most anything will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Randall Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Penderlea School, 82 Penderlea School Road, Willard, NC 28478.
