John Richard Bennett, age 66, of Currie passed unexpectedly from his earthly life on Monday, June 18, 2012 at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fayetteville.

He was born October 18, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA and was the son of the late George Washington and June Sawyer Bennett.

John is survived by his loving wife, Roberta Bennett; brother, George Bennett; sisters, June and Pat; and many friends.

He served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.

John was a devoted and excellent husband to Roberta. He was a skilled machinist and worked hard in his profession for many years. He possessed a keen sense of humor, a quiet manner and an engaging smile. Always willing to help anyone in need. Amongst the legacies John leaves behind are the importance of God, Family and Country.
