Obituary

John Fredrick Carter, 80, of Harrells, North Carolina left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Sunday, March 15, 2015.

He was born August 28, 1934 in Duplin County; the son of the late Robert Jackson and Leona Jones Carter. He was also predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Eloise Doris Peterson Carter; son, Ronnie F. Carter and brothers, Percy Carter and Bobby Carter (Star).

Mr. Carter was a hard working man who was employed as a service man at Nash Johnson's for 39 years. He was an avid poultry farmer who raised turkeys for 30 years for himself and also farmed tobacco.

Surviving is his devoted daughter, Pamela Carter Hurt of Harrells; daughter-in-law, Anita Carter of Harrells; grandchildren, Lucas Carter, Alma Marie Carter Rivenbark (Justin) and Jeffrey Thomas Hurt (Bobbie Sue); great grandchildren, Jeffrey "JJ" Thomas Hurt, Jr. and Virginia Sue Hurt; siblings, Joyce Boney (Jimmy) of Clinton, Jean Page (Bobby) of Wilmington, Jerry Mack Carter (Ann) of Willard, Sue Gray (Richard) of Maryland, Catherine Carter, wife of deceased brother, Percy Carter and special caregiver, Tammy Maynor of Harrells.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor Ross Cavenaugh officiating.

Entombment will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their grateful appreciation to Mr. Carter's caregivers, Tammy Maynor, Linda Murrell, Krystal Gurganious, Ann Walls, Diane Eakins, Tameika Eakins, JoAnn Newkirk, Barbara Lee, Katie Newkirk, Travis Newton, Bonita "Pepsi" Newkirk and Phyllis Fillyaw; also to Dr. Tim Smith, Dr. Bruce and their staff of Clinton; Catherine, Mickey, Teresa and staff at Community Home Care and Hospice and Rachel of Sampson Home Health. Thank you for your kindness and compassionate care you gave to Mr. John and for your support to the family throughout his illness. May God bless each one of you.
