John Dale Watkins, 65, of Leland, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026.

He was born on June 14, 1961, in Aberdeen, Maryland, the son of the late Robert Spicer Watkins and the late Doshie Ann Watkins Justice.

John served as a merchant marine for more than 15 years, a career that took him around the world. He was a loving father, brother, and friend, remembered for his generous spirit and caring heart. John was known for giving selflessly to others, even when he had little to give himself. He had a wonderful sense of humor and found joy in reading and listening to classic rock. John will be dearly missed by all that knew him, especially by his German Shepard, Gwen.

John is survived by his son, Joshua Watkins and his partner, Ashley; his brothers, David Watkins and wife Rose, Robert Watkins and wife Deborah, Ray Watkins and wife Linda.
