John Frederick Dawson, Sr., age 84, of Orlando, Florida, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at Huntington Health Care in Burgaw, NC.

He was born August 5, 1923 in Wilmington, NC, the son of the late Perry Lee and Norma Teachey Dawson.

Mr. Dawson received his undergraduate degree and completed his Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering from NC State University in Raleigh, NC. He served his country proudly during WW II in the US Navy and later also served in the US Air Force.

Surviving are his wife, Flora Johnson Dawson; sons, John F. Dawson, Jr. (Carolyn) of Charlottesville, VA, Daniel P. Dawson (Reeny) of Orlando, FL and David Lee Dawson of Clermont, FL; daughter, Flora Dawson Webb (Chuck) of Anna Maria Island, FL; and grandchildren, John Dawson III, Lauren Dawson, Danny Dawson, David Rogers, Rachel Webb, Leanna Dawson, Michael Dawson and Megan Dawson.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Masonboro Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC.
