John Franklin English, age 61, of Willard passed peacefully from his earthly life to his eternal rest at sunrise on May 20, 2010 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCareCenter.

He was born December 11, 1948 in Pender County, the son of Emma Bell Autry English of Wallace and the late John David English. Also remembered are his brothers, Edward and Bobby English.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his daughters, Ann Odom (Mark) of Willard and Terri Treto of Wilmington; grandchildren, William Brown, Samantha Treto, Joey Treto, Brenda Jones, "Lil" Adam Jones and Alyssa Jones; sisters, Dorothy Grant of High Point and Betty Watts of Columbia, South Carolina; brothers, David English of High Point and Bud English of Wilmington; and several nieces and nephews.

Frank loved his family, especially his grandchildren who affectionately called him, "Gangy". They were truly the light and joy in his life. Most importantly, several months ago Frank made a profession of faith and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, giving him and his family the assurance of his final resting place. He enjoyed all of God's creations, the outdoors and his beloved cats. One of his passions in life was NASCAR racing and all of the excitement and collectibles that went with it. His quiet manner, gentle spirit and caring for his family will always be cherished and remembered.

A memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Peniel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, 2370 Willard Road, Willard, NC 28478 with The Rev. Dewey Ball and the Rev. Rob Strickland officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
