John Edward Harrell, 75, of Seminary, Mississippi and formally of Atkinson, North Carolina passed from his earthly life on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at his sister's residence in Seminary, Mississippi..

He was born November 19, 1940 in Wilmington, North Carolina, the son of the late Eugene B. and Evelyn Hunt Harrell. John was also preceded in death by his wife, Dawn Stevens Harrell; two daughters, Erica Harrell Craft and Janet E. Harrell; two sisters, Mary Shriver and Dorothy Davis; and one brother, Milton Harrell.

Survivors include one son, Mark Eberhardt of Seminary, Mississippi; one daughter, Tina L. Harrell of Seattle, Washington; two sisters, Bobbie H. Lilly (James) of Ivanhoe, North Carolina and Gladys Underwood of Seminary, Mississippi; one brother, David Harrell (Emily) of Atkinson, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.

John was retired from the trucking industry after many years of service in numerous capacities as truck driver, dispatcher, terminal manager, and safety director. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church.

Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Lebanon Baptist Church in Seminary, Mississippi with The Rev. Justin Corley officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins, Mississippi served the Harrell family.
