John "Jay"
Farrior, Jr.
Jun 14, 1957 — Aug 10, 2023
John "Jay" Farrior, Jr. of Willard passed away unexpectantly on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at his home.
He was born on June 14, 1957, in Pender County; the son of the late John Farrior, Sr. and Lila Wells Farrior. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Lucyann Giddens.
A life-long member of Willard Baptist Church, John served as Deacon for many, many years and was always a vital part of his church and community.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his sister Carol F. Johnson and husband Dean of Ivanhoe; nieces, Kristen J. Brinkley and husband Ryan and Lauren J. Stryker and husband William; special buddy Spencer Giddens; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends that loved him.
Jay, as he was affectionately known, was a loving brother and caring uncle and friend. He was a simple man who enjoyed simple things in life, but his greatest joy was family and friends. Being a farmer by trade, Jay started his career growing tobacco but later grew corn and beans. He also grew turkeys for over 20 years for Nash Johnson. Stating that Jay was an avid hunter would be putting it mildly. He loved to hunt and hunted whatever was in season. Jay not only loved to hunt but he enjoyed spending time with his hunting buddy's either discussing the world's problems, talking about hunting or just shooting-the-breeze. He was everybody's friend and was loved dearly. Jay had a nickname for almost everyone he knew. He will surely be missed but Jay will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Monday evening at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Willard Baptist Church with Pastor David Knowles officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in memory of Jay Farrior to Union Rescue Squad, PO Box 1, Willard, NC 28478 or to Willard Baptist Church, 45 Willard Railroad Street, Willard, NC 28478.
