John "Johnny" Joseph Harrell, age 53, of Teachey died Sunday, March 23, 2014 in Columbia, SC.

He was born September 12, 1960 in Duplin County and was the son of Edna Garner Harrell of Teachey and the late Alton Harrell.

Surviving, in addition to his mother are his children, Joseph Harrell and wife, Crystal of Teachey, Johnna Turner and husband, Jonathan of Wallace, Tracy Smith and wife, Misty of Atkinson and Gerrie Lynn Samuels and husband, Robbie of Wallace; grandchildren, Colten Harrell and Miranda Harrell; siblings, Joe Harrell and Marie H. Hall, both of Wilmington, Danny Harrell of Rocky Point, Bruce Harrell and wife, Debbie of Wallace, Annette Whaley and husband, Edward Lee of Beulaville, David Harrell and Sidney Harrell, both of Teachey and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

"Johnny" as he was affectionately known, was a loving son and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He was a hard worker and a dependable man who was loved by everyone that knew him. Johnny enjoyed riding his motorcycle, grilling out and spending time with his family and friends. With a gentle spirit and outgoing personality, Johnny loved people and never met a stranger. His world revolved around his mother, his children and his grandchildren. Johnny will surely be missed but treasured memories of him will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel. Burial will follow in Duplin Memorial Gardens in Teachey.

Casketbearers will be Joseph Harrell, Jesse Harrell, Tracy Smith, Danny Earl Sanderson, Bradley Teague and Jonathan Turner.

The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home of Joseph and Crystal Harrell.
