John "Buddy" Henry Johnson, Jr., 74, of Wilmington, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at NHRMC in Wilmington.

John was born on December 25, 1944, in Wilmington to the late John Henry and Glenda (Rackley) Johnson

John was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He retired from Corning after almost 20 years of service. John was a man of many trades including construction, real estate, car sales, carpentry and welding. He even taught carpentry at Camp Lejeune. Most of all though, John loved family and the Lord.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Brenda (Smith) Johnson; daughter, Dora Gilgo and husband, Michael, their children Matthew, Nathan, and Noah; daughter, Kim Miller and her children Haydn, Jaelyn, and Josh, and her grandchildren Melina, Riyan, and TJ; son, Michael Johnson and wife, Nikki and their children Anderson, Gavin, Gabe, Lilah, and Hannah; daughter, Cindy Conover and husband, Henry and their children Caleb and Emily; sisters, Pat Coombs, Gail Faulk and husband, Jimmy, and Carolyn McLamb and husband, Donald; brother, Robert Johnson and wife, Micki.
