John "Johnny" Burns
Jordan
Jul 16, 1931 — Nov 15, 2018
John "Johnny" Burns Jordan, age 87, of Atkinson passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 16, 1931 in Bladen County, the son of the late Thaddeus Burns Jordan, Jr. and Mary Keith Edge Jordan. Also fondly remembered are Johnny's siblings, Barbara Ruth Jordan, Peggy Joyce Jordan, Jerry Auley Jordan and Mary Lou McEachern, all who preceded Johnny in death.
Johnny is survived by his beloved family, wife of 57 years, Kay Janet Johnson Jordan; son, Mark Jordan (Sherri`); grandson and special buddy, Evan Jordan; brothers, Tim Jordan (Beth) and Keith Keith Jordan; sister, Connie Lewis (Jerry); many nieces, nephews and extended family, all who loved Johnny.
He graduated from Atkinson High School. During the Korean Conflict, Johnny proudly served his country in the US Navy. For over 29 years he was employed with Corning, Inc. in Wilmington.
Johnny could easily strike up a lively conversation and thus made many friends that lasted through the years. He loved a good game of golf, but most of all Johnny loved and cared for his beloved family. Many remember the family gatherings at Kay and Johnny's home. His presence on this earth will be missed by many.
Johnny's family is grateful to God for his life and for your friendship, kindness and prayers. May the Lord bless you this Thanksgiving season.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Merrell McKoy will conduct the service.
Burial will follow in Woodcock Cemetery with C.R.E. Randa Scott conducting the committal service.
