John Thomas "Tommy" Hale , age 72, of Rocky Point passed peacefully from his earthly life Thursday, April 18, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 4, 1951 in Pender County, the son of William Edward Hale and Annie Mae Wright Hale. In addition to his parents Tommy was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Susan Bowden Hale; and brothers, Horace Pat Hale and William Edward Hale, Jr.

Tommy is survived by his son, John Thomas Hale, Jr. and his wife, Karen; daughter, Amy Hale Trussell and her husband, Jeremy; grandchildren, Michael Coleman (Courrtney), Matthew Trussell, Sarah Trussell, and John "Jay" Thomas Hale III; great grandson, Kolton; sister, Brenda Pope; special friends, Eileen Riportella, Kent and Nan Ness, and John and Cindy Mazierski.

Tommy was a true Southern gentleman who always believed in doing the right thing. A favorite pastime was watching the old western shows and the food network on TV. In recent years he has spent fun time at The Heritage Place socializing with friends. Tommy was a good daddy and grandpa who loved his family. He was a strong willed man with a good heart.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2024 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw with funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Micky Easterling will conduct the service.

Burial will follow in Pike Creek Cemetery.
