Johnie Russell Casbeer, age 55 passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2023 in Wilmington. He was born on July 17, 1967 in Midland, Texas, the son of  Linda Seegle Jenkins and the late Gilbert R. Casbeer. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice Casbeer.

Johnie taught school for over 25 years. Throughout his teaching career he was admired and respected by the children he taught. Johnie enjoyed landscaping his yard as well as lumberjacking. As a child and young adult, Johnie was a member of a roping team where he competed in redoes. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting on his front porch with his three favorite dogs, Bella, Pork Chop and Rain. Johnie was known as the life of the party and will definitely be missed by all his friends and family.

In addition to his mother, Johnie is survived by his daughter Zayne Casbeer and her husband, Adam; son, Cache Casbeer; sister, Angie Stafford and her husband, Craig.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Johnie will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Richard Bowie officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home after the service and other times at the home.
