Johnny Lawrence "J.L"
Mobley
Jan 6, 1937 — Aug 5, 2013
Johnny Lawrence Mobley, age 76, of Sneads Ferry left this life for his eternal rest on Monday, August 5, 2013 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 6, 1937 in Onslow County and was the son of Josephine Horne Mobley of Richlands and the late Willie M. Mobley. He was also predeceased by his sister, Shirley Ratliff.
J.L. was a member of Sneads Ferry Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 53 years, Marilyn Faye Bonham Mobley, brothers, Alvis Mobley and wife, Faye of Beulaville and Donald Mobley and wife, Brenda of Kenansville; sisters, Bobbie Humphrey and husband, Roland of Jacksonville, Jennell Hatcher and husband, Randy of Lyman and Marie Stevenson and husband, Steve of Nevada and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
"J.L." as his family and friends affectionately called him, was a devoted husband and loving son, brother and uncle who loved his family dearly. He was a humble man who worked hard and provided for his family. Being a talented mechanic, J.L. could most of the time look at the vehicle and tell what was wrong with it and then fix it. He enjoyed mechanic work, woodworking and spending time with his family. J.L. loved everybody, but he really loved and cared for his mother. He never missed a day without calling her to make sure she was alright. Being a simple man with a kind heart and a great sense of humor, J.L. was loved and respected by all who knew him. J.L's family is grateful to God for his life and they consider themselves very blessed to have had such a wonderful husband, son, brother and uncle.
