Jonan Washington Lanier, 76, of Maple Hill passed gently from her earthly life Sunday, July 14, 2019 at her home.

She was born November 14, 1942 in Newport News, Virginia, the daughter of the late Augustine Washington Sr. and Margaret Beaton Washington. Also remembered is her husband, David Ashley Lanier; son, Donald Bryant Lanier and granddaughter, Ashley Lanier, all who preceded Jonan in death.

Jonan is survived by her son, Michael Lanier; grandchildren, Leilani Sartelli (Jared), Zackary Lanier, Alex Lanier, Eric Lanier and Amber Lanier; brother Arthur Washington (Jetta); and many extended family and friends.

Jonan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her chosen career first and foremost was a homemaker and secondly a nurse.

Jonan loved her family and was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. For fun and enjoyment, she enjoyed shopping in thrift stores for bargain nick knacks and growing flowers. Jonan's sweet, sweet spirit and beautiful smile will be remembered.

The family will have a private memorial service.
