Jonathan "Jon" Gatewood Koehli, age 48, of Castle Hayne, NC passed away too soon on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

He was born on May 15, 1973 in Greensboro, NC to Sharon Waybright Spencer and the late Jerry Lee Koehli.

Jon had a big heart and was a kind, loving man. He liked hiking, motorcycles, dirt bikes and four wheelers. As a kid at heart, he also liked Legos. Jon worked a lot as the owner of his own HVAC company. But most important to him was being a family man. He was a good husband, father and grandfather. Jon was a bright light to many people and will be dearly missed.

In addition to his mother, Sharon Spencer, Jon is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Koehli; daughter, Tara Ray and husband, Derek Chavis; step-brother, Andy Spencer and wife, Jessica; sister, Christin Baker; step-sister, Emily Spencer; and grandchildren, Jayden Chavis, Elijah Chavis, and Presley Ray.

In addition to his father, Jon is predeceased by his step-father, Robert Spencer.

A memorial service will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at noon with Pastor Brock Meyer officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
