Being a compassionate and loving man, Joey never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Joseph “Joey” Melvin Padgett, 63, a hard working exceptional man left our world on eagle’s wings Thursday, September 10, 2026 leaving a big hole in our hearts.
He was born February 1, 1963 in Tarboro, the son of Carolyn Giddeons and the late Melvin Lee Padgett.
In addition to his mother Joey is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Melissa Padgett; sons, Brandon Padgett (Christa) and Brent Padgett (Blair); grandchildren, Jordan Padgett, Renley Padgett, Kymber Jereczek, and John Padgett; sisters, Michelle Stallings (Jerry Parker) and Barbara MacDonald (Bill); several nieces, nephews; and many dear friends all who loved Joey.
Joey had a great love for the outdoors. Being a passionate hunter and fisherman, he loved to share his hunting skills with Brandon, Brent and others around him. Everything Joey did he did with gusto and to the best of his ability. Being a compassionate and loving man, Joey never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. With his sunny smile Joey could laugh with you as well as cry with you, being the giving, caring person that he was. Most important in Joey’s life was his beloved family that he took such good care of. Our hearts are broken and we will miss our Joey each and every day.
