Obituary

Joseph Lee "Buddy" Moore, 82, of Teachey left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Monday, January 16, 2023, from Novant Health New Hanover Regional Hospital.

He was born on June 13, 1940, in Duplin County; the son of the late Ezra and Margaret Simmons Moore.  Joe was also predeceased by his best friend and loving wife of 43 years, Margaret Sullivan Moore; son, Ricky Sellers; brothers, E.W. and Bobby Moore; and sisters, Eunice Griffin and Edna Watkins.

Joe served his county honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam Era and was a loyal member of Wallace Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving is his devoted daughter, Ann Sellers Smith and husband, Thomas of Teachey; son, Ron Sellers and wife, Angie of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Bridget S. Brennan and husband, Scot of Morehead City, Kevin Smith and wife, Hope of Wallace, Brittany Williams and husband, Wesley, Staci Sellers and Tristan Sellers; great grandchildren, Weston Smith, Savannah Smith, Taylor Mitchell, Cashlyn Williams, Matthew Brennan, and Anna Scot Brennan; sister, Shelby Griffin of Potters Hill; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Joe dearly.

Joe was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a simple man who was loved and respected by all who knew him.  His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren who affectionately called him "Daddy", "Granddaddy" and "PaPa".  Joe was also lovingly known as "Uncle Buddy" to many nieces and nephews.  Being the man he was and his love for others, Joe was affectionately considered as "Granddaddy" to numerous special friends that were not even related to him.  He loved greatly and was greatly loved.   Being an avid farmer, Joe enjoyed being outside and riding around his farm looking at his crops.  He worked very hard throughout the years to provide for his family.  He was a quiet and humble man who spoke with wisdom and love. A man of compassion and kindness who was always lending helping hands to neighbors, friends and family.  Most of all, Joe had a relationship with God and demonstrated his faith by the way he lived his life.  Joe will surely be missed but we know our loss is Heaven's gain.  Treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with his pastor, the Reverend Bobby Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00a.m. on Thursday, one hour prior the service at the funeral home and other times at Joe's residence.
