Obituary

Joseph Hooper Rivenbark, 89, of Burgaw passed peacefully from his earthly life on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at The Village on Campbell in Burgaw

He was born June 18, 1927 in Pender County, the son of the late James Anthony and Ola Lee Wells Rivenbark. Joseph was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Johnson Rivenbark and brothers, Anthony "Doc" Rivenbark, George W. Rivenbark, Paul N. Rivenbark, and James E. "Punkin" Rivenbark.

Joseph is survived by his sisters, Jenette R. Baucom and Julia R. Rivenbark (Morris); brother, Nathan C. Rivenbark (Hazel); and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Joseph, known and loved as "Hoopie" was a gentle man who loved his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and all of God's beautiful nature. Each year Hoopie planted a large garden which he generously shared with family and friends. Hoopie was loved and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends at 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with a graveside service following at 11:30am at Riverview Memorial Park. The Rev. Timothy Cook will conduct the service.
