Josephine Moses Brown, age 98, of Burgaw passed gently from her earthly life to her eternal rest on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Pender Memorial Hospital. She was born August 7, 1914 in Richmond, VA, to Thomas Henry and Catherine Muldoon Moses. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Jason Brown; daughter, Milda Greene; and sons, Clarence Brown, Jr. and Ashley H. Brown.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Raysin of Atkinson; grandchildren, Ann Corbett (Lacy), Jimmy Barnhill (Peggy Taylor), Sonya Brown, Michael Brown (Jennifer), Robin Greene, and Renee Greene; great grandchildren, Amber Brown, Ashley Corey (Patrick), Frederic Gerow (Montura), Ashley Brown, Jarrod Brown, Jacqlyn Kavanaugh, Jenna Kavanaugh, Jillian Kavanaugh, Brittany Anderson, Josie Anderson, and Seanna Wilson; great great grandchildren, Christina Brown, Rick Gerow (Nikki), Brandy Gerow, Cody Corbett Blackburn, Tiffany Rogers and Arianna Corey; and many extended family, all who dearly loved Jo.

Josephine was a member of Atkinson Holiness Church and was a devout Christian all of her life.

"Jo", as Josephine was affectionately called loved her family and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved all of nature and the beauty of God's handiwork...especially animals and flowers. Jo always had a smile on her face, a helping hand stretched out and a heart ready to show the love of Christ within her. Jo blessed the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Haw Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dean Walker officiating.
