Joyce Ann Shrader, 61, of Atkinson passed peacefully from her earthly life on Friday, April 11, 2014 at her home surrounded with love by her family.

She was born October 8, 1952 in Albemarle, North Carolina, the daughter of Mary Spivey Culp Leviner of Wilmington and the late Bud Culp. In addition to her father, Joyce was preceded in death by two sisters.

In addition to her mother, Joyce is survived by her husband of 40 years, James Ross Shrader; son, Jason Culp (Valerie); daughters, Jessica Joyner (Herbert), Charity Marschall (Dominic) and Misty Kinser (Tony); grandchildren, Corey Lahnum, Kyle Oliver, Brian Fink, Moriah Newman, Dominic Marschall, Lillian Marschall, Morgan Culp, and Hunter Culp; three brothers; four sisters and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who was loved by all. Family was her greatest joy as each of them meant the world to Joyce. A number of years ago Joyce and James felt the call to become foster parents to children who needed a home and nurturing, which they did for seven years prior to Joyce's illness which began in August of 2013. Music brought joy and much pleasure to Joyce as she loved listening to her favorite songs. Her cheerful smile, generous heart and loving nature will always be remembered and never forgotten.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Lottie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. Casketbearers will be Herbert Joyner, Dominic Marschall, Jason Culp, Tony Kinser, Don Cummings and Brian Fink.

There will be a visitation with family and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw.
