Joyce Faye Fussell Teachey, 74, of Teachey NC, left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Sunday, September 4, 2022 from ECU Duplin Hospital.

She was born on August 3, 1948, in Duplin County; the daughter of the late William Hubert and Pearlie Inez Pelts Fussell. Joyce was also preceded in death by her brother, Hubert Earl Fussell and sister, Ella Mae Fussell.

Joyce was a member Corinth Baptist Church.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her best friend and husband or 34 years, Joseph "Joe" Teachey; daughter, Tammy Teachey Quinn and husband, Robert of Rose Hill; sons, Mathew Teachey of Rose Hill and Joseph Scott Teachey and wife, Sheri of Wallace; grandchildren, Gary Dylan Sessoms, Sarah Elizabeth Sessoms, Emily Caroline Quinn, Ethan Robert Quinn, Elijah Teachey,  Steven Teachey, Chase and Laken; great grandchildren,  Lucas Joel Wilkenson and Ray Higgins; Sister, Deborah Fussell of Surf City; brothers, Louis Joseph Fussell and wife, Hazel of Teachey and William Nathan Fussell and wife, Misty of Teachey; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Joyce very much.

Joyce was a loving wife and caring mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family dearly.  She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace, an instrument of God's love on this earth.  Joyce never met a stranger and was quick to offer her sweet smile, words of encouragement, and would even give the shirt off her back if needed. With a big heart and loving spirit, Joyce was a pleasure to be around.  In her family's eyes, Joyce was their "Rock".   But most of all, she loved the Lord and is in the presence of Jesus her Savior.  Joyce will surely be missed but treasured memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, 612 S. Norwood Street, Wallace, NC  28466.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 inside the Chapel at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha, NC.  Pastor Philip Eakins will be conducting the service.

After the service, Joyce will be entombed in Riverview Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will be residing at the home of Tammy and Robert Quinn.
