Judith "Judy" Marie Drake, age 80, of Burgaw passed peacefully from her earthly life on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center.

She was born October 3, 1934 in Monroe, the daughter of the late Edison and Nellie Sue McKinney Collins.

Judy is survived by her husband of 32 years, James "Jim" Franklin Drake; children, Connie Dorff, Brenda Hankins, Sandra Snow (spouse, David), Robert Hutchens, Jr. (spouse, Debbie), and Patty Reeves; step-sons, Greg Drake (spouse, Terry) and Michael Larocca (Jan); 15 grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; brother, Bill Collins (spouse, Judy); sister, Patricia Scholtz; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte and was a registered nurse having worked at Babies Hospital and retired from New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Judy along with her husband, Jim, developed Mallard Roost, a housing development near Burgaw where they lived happily for many years.

Judy loved her family and was a wonderful homemaker, filling her home with kindness and sunshine. She loved all of God's nature and creations as she enjoyed deer hunting with Jim, beautiful flowers and hummingbirds. Judy will be remembered for her quiet faith, gentle laughter, caring manner and sweet spirit.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Ron Abrams officiating. Casual dress will be appreciated. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park. Casketbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Flowers are welcome or if one chooses, a memorial gift may be given to a charity of choice in honor and memory of Judy.
