Judy Holly
Sidbury
Sep 20, 1942 — Oct 13, 2022
A kind and gentle soul, a gracious and loving lady, Judy Holly Sidbury entered her heavenly home with Jesus on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the age of 80.
She was born September 20, 1942 in Wilmington to David Holly and Mary Tompkins Holly. In addition to her parents Judy was preceded in death by her brother, David "Woody" Holly and a special aunt, Lila Holly.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Alfred "Al" Sidbury; sons, Tom Sidbury and wife, Ellen, and Larry Sidbury and wife, Maureen; grandchildren, Sean Sidbury, Ben Sidbury, Margaret Sidbury, and Matthew Sidbury; sister-in-law, Marie Holly; nephew, Richard Busch and his wife, Amy; many dear cousins and numerous friends all who loved Judy.
Judy graduated from Long Creek High School in 1960. She attended Hardbarger Business School in Raleigh, NC until she and Al were married in May 1962. This year, they celebrated 60 wonderful years together.
With their marriage, Judy became a Navy wife, joining Al on tours in Guam, Panama City, Florida, Puerto Rico, Wilmington, NC and Rota, Spain. The family relocated to Hampstead NC in 1974 while Al finished his Navy career at Little Creek, VA. After retirement, they developed Sidbury's Mobile Home Park in Hampstead and managed it until 2020.
Judy loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, and her faith guided her in life. She was a gentle, loving soul that always put others first. She was a people person and liked making new acquaintances and developing friendships. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed harvesting vegetables and sharing them with neighbors and family.
Judy loved her family and was loved in return. She especially adored her grandchildren and relished the role of "Mema". She always ensured they were showered with unconditional love, were encouraged by her kindness and were well fed. Al always said she attended "Grand Ma School" before their births.
She was a dog lover and spent most of her life with at least one dog by her side. Her current dog, Bo, has been a special friend to her.
The family will receive friends 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2022 at Hampstead Baptist Church, 67 Factory Road, Hampstead, with funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Melvin Hall and The Rev. Joey Canady will conduct the service.
