Julia Deane Edwards Murray, age 83, of Wallace left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Friday, March 02, 2012.

She was born December 5, 1928 in Duplin County; daughter of the late Rufus And Gertrude Casteen Edwards. She was predeceased by her son, William Earl Murray, Jr.; her grandson, Jamie Murray and brother, Raeford Edwards.

Mrs. Murray was a member of Poston Baptist Church.

Surviving is the love of her life, her devoted husband of 68 years, William Earl Murray, Sr.; son, Douglas Murray and wife, Deborah of Wake Forest; 6 grandchildren including special grandson, Andy Murray and wife, Debbie of Wallace; 7 great grandchildren including great grandson, Alex Murray; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Florene Carr and husband, William of Elizabeth City; brother, Rufus Edwards, Jr. of Aranas, TX and special friends, Jean Blanton and Dorothy Sholar.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 pm, Monday, March 5, 2012 at Poston Baptist Church with the Rev. Dustin Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00pm Sunday, March 4, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel and other times at the Murray's home.

Deane was a loving wife and caring mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family dearly. With her strong yet gentle presence, Deane looked for and encouraged the best in everyone. She was a shoulder upon whom her husband and children found comfort and support. Deane will certainly be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

It was the light of her love, the tenderness of her care and the warmth of her presence that brightened each of the lives of those who called her "Mama, Grandma, Sister, and Friend."
