Obituary

June Brown Davis, age 92, of Burgaw died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at The Milford & Reba Quinn Hospice Care Center in Kenansville.

She was born June 5, 1917 in Onslow County, the eldest of eleven children born to John Edward and Lucy Horne Brown. Also remembered are her husband, Woodrow Wilson Davis; her daughter, Sylvia Lee; and sons, Carroll Davis and James Wilson Davis.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Richard Edward and Deborah Davis of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; sisters, Vallie Meadows of Burgaw, Frances Smith of Portland, Oregon, Agnes Sullivan of Jacksonville, and Yvonne Scott of Beulaville; brothers, Jarvis Brown of Chinquapin, Johnnie Brown of Richlands and Ronnie Brown of Winnabow; and numerous nieces and nephews.

June was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She was raised on a farm in a loving family where she learned her homemaking and gardening skills. She loved all of nature; flowers, birds and God's creations. Many in Burgaw remember her being a superb seamstress. Her friendly nature, beautiful smile, steadfast faith in the Lord, and love for her dear family will always be remembered.

Funeral service will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Elder Durwood B. Stokes officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends at the funeral home until 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Kenbridge Heights Cemetery, Kenbridge, Virginia.
