Obituary

June Heath Godwin, age 72, of Wallace left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from Duke Hospital in Durham.

She was born on June 14, 1944 in Pender County and was the daughter of the late Roy and Catharine Stevens Heath. She is also predeceased by her brother, Roy Teachey Heath.

June was employed at BB&T for many years where she developed many lasting friendships. She was a dedicated member of Poston Baptist Church.

Surviving is her devoted husband of 54 years, Jimmy Godwin of their home; her loving daughters, Sandy Godwin Herndon and husband, Christopher of Ashville and Jimmie Godwin Armstrong and husband, Steven of Apex; grandchildren, Kai Herndon, Eli Herndon, Caleb Herndon, Abby Armstrong and Jack Armstrong; siblings, Virginia Register of Colonial Heights, VA., Barbara Matthews of Rose Hill, Jean Cunningham of Willard, Laura Cumer of Wallace, Joy Brown and husband, Ray of Goldsboro, Fred Heath of Willard and Joe Heath of Rose Hill and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that loved June dearly.

June was a loving wife and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed the simplest things in life but her greatest joy was family. She loved all of them, but she adored her husband and her grandchildren. June was a people's person who had a kind heart and was always ready to help anyone in need. She was quick to smile and was an encourager to those who knew her. To her girls, she could always make things better and always looked on the sunny side of life. With a great sense of humor, lots of energy, June was so much fun to be around. It is for certain that she will be missed but cherished memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved June.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor Chris Jarman officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha, NC.
