June H. Malpass, 69, of Currie exited this world with grace and beauty on Sunday, January 24, 2010 to be with the Lord.
She was born October 16, 1940 in Norfolk, VA, the daughter of the late Dennis William and Jane Evans Holden. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Edison Malpass and brother, Buddy Holden.
During her time in the workforce she spent 42 enjoyable years as a convenience store clerk and 9 wonderful years at Faye's Cafe, working until her illness came to light.
June is survived by her children, Roger and wife, Cheryl Malpass of Burgaw, Thomas and wife, Frances Malpass of Leland, and Terrie and husband, Graham Rivenbark of Burgaw. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Roland, Crystal, Dale, Leon, Denise, Beau, Ruthie, Graham, Jr., Shannon, Royce, Tonya, and Tommy; 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary and husband, Lloyd Malpass of Leland and Donna and husband, Morris Mobley of Wilmington; a special sister-in-law, Janet Holden of Hendersonville; numerous nieces, nephews and very close friends who always remained dear to June.
June was a devoted wife and the best mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She valued her family above all else. June was a blessing to all with her beautiful smile, joyful spirit and love of the Lord. To know June was to love her. She fought her illness the same way she lived her life, with an eternal strength and sense of purpose. Cherished memories of June will forever remain in our hearts.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw with Mr. Perry Arrington officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Casketbearers will be Graham Rivenbark, Jr., Shannon Rivenbark, Gene Ikner, Ricky Todd, Keith Todd, and Jeremy Todd.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home.
