Obituary

Willard: Karen Gaye Herring, 58, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed from her earthly life to her eternal Heavenly home on Friday, July 30, 2010 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born May 4, 1952 in Cherry Point to the late Denzel W. and Arah Pearl Stephenson Adams.

Gaye is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Gene Herring; sons, Chris Herring (Wendy) of Burgaw and Timmy Herring (Brandy) of Leland; and grandchildren, Kayla Herring, Briana Herring, Chloe Herring and Landon Herring.

Gaye was a faithful member of Burgaw Holiness Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Gaye loved her family with great devotion and was the best wife, mother and grandmother that anyone could ask for. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. She loved her dog, Molly, porcelain doll collecting, teddy bears and painting pictures by number. She was active in her church through the years and was blessed with a love for the Lord and a faith that took her through an extended illness. Gaye's family is grateful to God for her life, for your friendship and for your kindness and prayers. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Burgaw Holiness Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Ted Mercer officiating. One hour prior to the funeral service the family will receive friends at the church. A graveside service and burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2010 at Knollwood Memorial Park in Clayton.

Casketbearers for Gaye will be Robbie Hill, Corey Hornbeck, Robert Anderson, Dee Carlton, Reuben Murray and Kenny Ray Murray.
