Katherine Ann Raynor Huggins, 85, of Wilmington, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Katherine was born in New Hanover County on August 7, 1935 and was a daughter of the late James William Raynor and Sallie Naomi Peay Raynor.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 66 years, Jimmy Huggins; four children, Ronnie Huggins (Lynne), Gina Royal (Jimmy), Tommy Huggins (Cindy), Steven Huggins (Chris); seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Katherine is preceded in death by her sister Kaye Shephard and her brother James Raynor.

Throughout the years, Katherine was proud to be the assistant kindergarten teacher and was also the assistant teacher in the first kindergarten class in Pender County school system. She was also a lifelong member at Riley's Creek Baptist Church. In Katherine's spare time, she loved to sew and made many outfits for her children and grandchildren. Katherine Ann was a gracious lady and maintained her strong Christian faith through her lengthy illness. She was loved and will be missed.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery located in Rocky Point with Pastor Herchenhahn officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial gifts be made to Riley's Creek Baptist Church or Riley's Creek Memorial Cemetery.
