Kathleen Carter Baker, 89, of Burgaw passed gently from her earthly life on April 2, 2013 at Cape Fear Hospital.

She was born November 15, 1923 in Sampson County, the daughter of the late Martin and Elma Edge Carter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Mansel Baker, Sr.

Kathleen is survived by her son W. M. "Bill" Baker, Jr. (Irene) of Burgaw; daughter, Harriet B. Morse (Steve) of Rhode Island; and grandchildren, Steven Morse and Rebecca Moreau (Robert).

Kathleen was a member of Burgaw Baptist Church.

Kathleen loved her family and created a home filled with happiness and harmony. Being an excellent homemaker, she was a wonderful cook and kept an immaculate home. Kathleen's love of nature and the outdoors was revealed in her manicured yard and beautiful flowers. An avid gardener, she could plant and make most any flower grow. Kathleen was a lady filled with grace, compassion and thoughtfulness for others. Fond memories of Kathleen will always remain in our hearts.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Morton officiating. Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday until hour of the service.
