Obituary

Mrs. Kathleen Fussell Sheffield, widow of Mr. Granville Lincoln Sheffield died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in Wallace and in the presence of her granddaughter.

Mrs. Sheffield was born in Rose Hill, March 16, 1916, the daughter of Oscar and Myrtle Fussell. Mr. and Mrs. Sheffield had one daughter, Sonia Sheffield Bland Donald) who brought them much joy. She out lived her own daughter by nine years. Despite the loss of many friends and loved ones including a husband, daughter, son-in-law, brother and baby sister, she remained positive with few complaints about life.

A long time resident of Rose Hill, she was very proud to call it her home. Mrs. Sheffield was a member of the Rose Hill United Methodist Church and the Duplin County chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In her younger years, she loved living near her brothers and sisters and eating out at the local family restaurants with friends and family. In her later years, Mrs. Sheffield was a resident at Day Spring Assisted Living in Wallace. She
especially enjoyed \\"silver bells\\" and would always ask her visitors if they had some for her upon entering her room.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Dr. Donald S. Bland of Wilmington, Mr. Edwin Lincoln Bland (Rosalie) of Winston-Salem and, Sonia Kathleen Bland-Taylor (Harry) of Wilmington. She was blessed with eight great grandchildren: Gabriel Sheffield Bland, Tiago Granville Bland, Ida Ragsdale Bland, Edwin Lincoln Bland Jr., Frederick Sinclair Hill Bland, Spencer Craven Taylor, Eva Kathleen Taylor, and Simone Olivia Taylor. She is also survived by two siblings: Mr. Daniel Fussell of Rose Hill and Ruth Fussell Singletary of Rose Hill.

The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 24 at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, after which a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.
